Looking for a good TFT monitor (19" - 22") that is suitable for both work and play. Will need to have a DVI connection for my Ati Radeon 2900XT, preferably with good colour range and zero ghosting on fast moving images.
I've seen some TFTs in the past with a "shiny screen" that makes the colour more vivid, that would be handy or my art/web work.
Budget upto £180
Recommend me a decent TFT monitor

I got A MEDION 22" widescreen from Aldi last time they had them in, very good and well worth it. they might have them in again soon
I AM NOT A MEMBER OF THE 22NDSASSCREAM....AIM....FIRE!!!!!!!!!
Samsung or LG, lowest refresh/highest contrast you can get, the shiny screen feature you seek is called crystalbrite or something similar, make sure you have no other light sources in the room, shiny = reflection.
very happy with my samsung 2243nw, just have a browse on ebuyer, read the reviews and then google it.

I'm very happy with my 22" ACER AL2223W. It's not top of the pops (price and and all) But I have no complains at all.

Buy a screen from a proper brand and look for one with the specs Sky said ^.
Than use both screens side by side, use the CRT only for reference to check the colors of your work
Btw, I'm super happy with my Samsung 2253BW

I have an Acer AL2216W with very good contrast and colors are superb. its not the glossy you want to go for, but then again, i am in a light room, so everything would reflect in it.
Like sky and lumber said, go for a good brand, prices arent that far off nowadays, and you will get more worth for your money spent.
Iiyama is good

or this Samsung with a contrast ratio of 20.000:1!

Cheers everyone.
The Samsung T220 is looking like a possible contender, though the LG Flatron L227WT is meant to be better.
....off to get some reviews of it.l

Well, after doing loads of reading up on TFT technology and reviews of popular brands (iiyama, samsung, lg, dell, hp)....im still non the wiser on the best one to get lmao.
There is some good info on TFT panel types with pros/cons here:
:: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1039222
Basically, for games you want a low response time to prevent ghosting and TN panels are best for this. However, TN panels have restricted viewing angles and poorer colour compared to other types of panel.
Other types of panel may have better colour, but have slower response times lol. However, that said some now have 'overdrive' features which improve (or rather reduce) ghosting.
Basically, no TFT can match the qualities of a CRT monitor.
I have decided to go for a 22" Widescreen monitor, just got to choose the right one now.
I have found a great site for indepth reviews:
